Not sure if anyone will have the answer for this one but thought I would ask anyways because Akai product support sucks.
I recently bought a MPD24 and it was working fine with Ableton until I accidentally removed the firmware while trying to upgrade it... So now I get 'MPD boot load error' in the device manager which is not allowing me to select my mpd as a midi device in Vyrex editor which I need to download the latest firmware into the unit.
Anyone got an idea of what to do to fix this driver issue? I have even gone into the device manager and selected 'show hidden devices' and uninstalled all old drivers and then tried reinstalling them and it still comes up with the same boat load error.

I have tried that and it says the drivers are up to date but it still has the boot load error with a yellow exclamation mark beside it or either shows it as a unknown device now and is not being recognized in the editor.

I very nearly updated mine to the latest firmware and read people were having troubles with it online, a few people bricking their mpd's. Irritatingly Akai provides not only crap customer service but the 24 is considered a legacy product. SO online support is useless as well. I know there is a troubleshooter somewhere for broken firmware restoration but that's a job for google. Good luck man. I was too much of a pussy to update as everything (bar the controller mmc buttons) work for me.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Yeah man some of my pots/faders were being iffy so I thought I should try updating the firmware. Now it seems like that wasn't such a good idea because I can't even use the thing anymore! Hopefully somebody out there has had this problem and knows a fix...

Yeah I have read that I should probably plug it into a XP or Mac computer but I have neither of those so I was hoping someone would know of a solution for Windows 7.

I have no idea, I use an mpd24 with windows7 but I never even had anything to do with it's
driver or firmware.
Now windows 7 and the audio 8 dj, that's a whole different story.
