This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
apparently he was knocked out cold
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
Good thing he's got all that girly padding on, else it could've been a lot worse.
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
Pussies seriously they run into one another and get knocked out.
Rugby FTW.
Rugby FTW.

Kind of the point.wub wrote:Good thing he's got all that girly padding on, else it could've been a lot worse.
A boxer wears gloves to protect themselves from themselves. Same with MMA. Pussies wearing pads tho right? Boxers wouldn't be able to hit near as hard as they do if they didn't have padding. Same with NFL.
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
It was rubbish though.
I'd rather get hit like that than this.

Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
comparing rguby and american football is pretty daft since in rugby tackling is strictly prohibited to the ball holder, whereas in American football you can just be running along without it and get absolutely slammed.
Also - more padding = more momentum = more pain when you hit the floor. Plus NFL players as a general rule are a lot more agile and powerful than rugby players; a natural by-product of massively high investment. Rugby does not have this money.
Both games suck.

meh... ive seen people get blown up harder playing sideline kill football in the streets with no pads as a teenager.
I'm not afraid to get hit that hard as I know without pads there is a limit to how hard the tackler is going to hit me.
guess its a different mentality.... you grow up playing US football and you're used to getting hit insanely hard from the time you're a youngster.
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
I got KO'd playing rugby for my school when I was younger. That's when I realised that any sport that lends more weight to size than technical skill is shit.
Rugby and American football should be renamed "Big blokes running with ball into each other". The amount of times I see players throw the ball forward in rugby for example is a joke. That's the one thing they need to actually think about and they do it wrong all the time!
Pure tosh

that's kind of why i prefer US football... the forward pass in the NFL is one of the most technical things in sporting period. Throwing a ball 40+ yards and putting it accurately into something size of a dinner plate is fantastically entertaining.

Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
that tackle is fucking evil, much harder hit than the first one and without pads, sickeningtherapist wrote:It was rubbish though.

what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
no offense to rugby fans.... but anyone whose played school yard US Tackle Football that rugby hit is not really anything special. I think it's a misconception that NFL pads are a pussy move. Most american boys play football without pads daily from the time they're 5 years old until they're teenagers. Even in college we used to play tackle/sideline kill football all the time and would blow shit up on the reg.
On saturdays/sundays you were the pads so you can run around going full speed and sacrifice your own body to do things no one is going to do without pad.
I dunno... not really impressed with that rugby hit as thats about a normal hit for adult tackle football for ex players who get together with their friends on the weekends

Hell yeah, I saw a vid of this guy chucking a football the equivalent distance used by archers in Olympic archery. The tip of the ball nailed the exact centre of the target 10 times out of 10. Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
im watching rugby hits on youtube and i think part of why some of the hits don't seem as devastating to an ex football player is you're never getting hit by someone with a true running head start. All of the hits are usually within 5-8 yards. That also explains why no pads are needed. The hits are more deliberate. The ball movement is more predictable and therefor they can put their shoulder firmly into the carrier and plant them
Also since theres no end of a play the hits dont have as much into them because they have to keep going. They arent hitting to end a play they're hitting then moving on so they cant lay themselves out or they'll be out of the play.... where as an NFL player knows their tackle ends the play so they can fully exert themselves

Both hits in this thread are insane.

Except he's not though - the Quarterback is throwing the ball to an area of the pitch where he expects the receiver to be, if the receiver is doing their role properly.
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
this is cool
Re: This NFL hit makes my stomach hurt
There is a lot of strategy involved, I can see how it might be boring if you don't understand all the ins and outs, but if you do its great spectacle.wolf89 wrote: (but when I tried watching an NFL match I got bored as hell)
