SPL, BSE, Current Value etc.
Like/Dislike?
Personally I loved all the old drum n bass BSE was bringing out like Arrakis, Mindset etc. aswell as stuff by Current Value like Dark Rain, Edge of Dreams etc... But has anyone got into the dubstep they've been producing?
Stuff like this:
Not really a massive fan of Foreign Beggars but the tune is what counts in my eyes...
Anyone else a fan of this utter filth?

Re: SPL, BSE, Current Value etc.
yeah man I got all those old BSE tunes on wax, so many big tunes....remember it being different to everything else around at the time, along with DSCI4 stuff n that.....
To be honest havent listened to a lot of the dubstep they been making, the stuff I have heard I haven't really been feeling....think their sound was better suited to hard DnB

Re: SPL, BSE, Current Value etc.
Yeah I used to love it. Branched out from hip hop/turntablism DJing into darkdarkdark D&B. Had (actually, still have, somewhere) a big stack of Tech Itch, BSE, Dylan, etc.
One day, probably not long after I got bored of pills, something clicked in me and I realised its just a bunch of noise. 'Grew' out of it in the same way I did with metal, etc.
Some of the production is amazing, but it all sounds too similar.

Re: SPL, BSE, Current Value etc.
I used to love Current Value/Cooh/Tech Itch/Donny back in the day but haven't heard much of their dubstep bits.
Machine Code (Dean Rodell, Current Value) has some decent stuff, Corridor is probably my favorite tune. Tech Itch had some pretty decent tunes a while back, Cleansing Fire EP is pretty gold, and his dubstep EP had some Vex'd vibes as well.

Technical Itch is still one of the best producers in DNB.
Re: SPL, BSE, Current Value etc.
I have just learnt so much. Didn't know that cooh = balkansky. Mind = Blown. Also didn't know that Rodell and Current Value = Machine Code. Mind = Blown.
This has made things so much more interesting.
Absolutely love that requiem tune, and corridor too.

Not into their dubstep, but I'm into that type of dark/hardstep o.o Black Sun Empire hasn't ever really been my thing, though.
However, SPL is pretty much a godlike producer to me.
Literally one of the best dnb tunes I've ever heard. It's perfect. The melody, the bassline, that Tramen, the GY!BE sample.
And his industrial hardcore EP kicks the shit out of pretty much most hardcore ever and I love hardcore.
So dark. o.o

Thoroughly agreed. SPL's production style is just excellent, there's rarely a tune he makes (solo) that I don't enjoy.Genevieve wrote:Not into their dubstep, but I'm into that type of dark/hardstep o.o Black Sun Empire hasn't ever really been my thing, though.
