To all Vinyl DJs out there: What slipmats are you using?
To all Vinyl DJs out there: What slipmats are you using?
Hey, sorry for a seemingly ignorant post, but I just picked up some secondhand Vestax PDX-2000mkIIs, and I have to say these are wonderful decks for the price I grabbed them at! However, the slipmats are horrid. Old and very worn in. Did I mention they look like they're straight from the nineties?
Not that I'm too concerned on appearance, but these seriously need to go. So what slipmats are you guys using? I try searching the serato forums and various different forums, most people ask about slipmats for scratching. Usually Thud Rumble, D-Styles, and etc are suggested. Are these too slippery for mixing? Are there any cool mats available that would be decent for both? Am I just asking too many questions and should just get a damn pair of slipmats!?
AGH!

Are Glowtronics any good for mixing?

I once, saw ones with Che Guevara on them, and I once, saw ones with eyeballs.
I was quite partial to the eyeballs. They were more detailed.
Its a damn piece of suede-ish stuff though dude. Overthinking it.
Re: To all Vinyl DJs out there: What slipmats are you using?
Yeah I figured! Idk, I just dropped dough on some Shure M447's with Technics headshells, had to get a new track light, and replace the tonearm clip. So, really just trying to make sure I've got all my basis covered for some the best possible set up
I think I'm going to grab some Glowtronic, they look sick
Now to spin that DMZ006 wax that has been sitting in my closet for ages :DDDDD

I've got a couple with the Metalheadz-logos on 'em. But you don't really have to buy some really fancy ones. I remember playing a place where they had thrown away the slipmats and thought: Damn it, we'll just make two new ones out of washcloth. It worked out alright acutally (Wouldn't recommend doing so though)

Please check out EsDjCo's Aero II slipmats. Just straight colliers well designes bastards. Wont fly of when flipping the record, and never climbs to the record.

One homemix special
One Technic's one.
....Don't ask

And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

these any good? the tablecloths were great, but I was looking at grabbing some of these as I don't really cut any more. And the table cloth's have been getting bashed for about 5 years.kizza2435 wrote:

Technics Speedmats with a second plastic/polythene (not really sure what it's made of) slipmat under each one.
Done me a damn good service for years! Others I've tried don't compare imo...

I use the standard Vestax ones. The ones the OP is throwing away
They're fine

Re: To all Vinyl DJs out there: What slipmats are you using?
