Hey guys,
New to the forums and new to production. I just started messing around with ableton suite(the trial) about a week ago and started loving production, i wanted to get into a full setup and started researching what i need but i still have a few questions(forgive me if they are dumb questions, some of them may be)
My first one is software(probably really my most important question), Now i know i've heard everyone say start with easy software then get into the heavy stuff when you're comfortable, I started to take an understanding to ableton early(although i still have soo much to learn). I know i'm super comfortable with computers so learning a program won't be an issue, I'm wondering what do ou guys think the most "fluid" program to use and what you'd recommend, aka nice layout not weirdly buggy or anthing in some parts. I was leaning towards logic or ableton, but really i am open to suggestions. or if between those two, which would you take?
In terms of a midi controller, i was thinking of the M-audio Axiom pro(not sure on key count, definitely not the 61 one though, don't need that many keys). I liked it because it has keys, pads, knobs and faders all in one, so i can just buy one unit to get started with everything i want. Is the Axiom Pro and good midi controller and would ou recommend it?(for those who have used it)
And my third question is monitors, i understand the monitor is so you can hear your "true" sound, if you will so you know your music will sound good on all systems. but my question is does a monitor still make your music sound "good" while you are making it. I know this past week messing around on ableton i was just using my beats headphones and the song sounded super bassy, then when i played it in my car(with a sound system,one 10" sub) the sub didn't even kick in! I Know part of this is knowledge of what feequencies and all that, which i have yet to learn. But do monitors allow you to hear essentially everthing so you know what will be picked up b a sub and what not?
I was leaning towards the KRK R5's for monitors? any suggestions you can give me about monitors?
Sorr guys realized i typed a lot there, but if you anyone could help me with any question i'd be stoked! Also learning curve isn't an issue for me or starting with simpler programs or basic midi controllers isn't my thing, because the second i learn those out i will want to upgrade instantly and don't wanna drop money and buying stuff and THEN an upgrade.
Thanks again guys!

Re: Getting into production, few questions
I feel bad about locking three threads in the space of 5mins, so I'm going to give this one the benefit of the doubt and leave it open for now. In answer to your questions;
1) Software preferences are different for everyone. All the main packages have trial versions to download from their website, so grab a couple and see what works for you. If you're already getting on with Ableton, I'd suggest sticking with that.
2) M-Audio controllers are a great starter MIDI. Check out the Oxygen V3 as well for a more budget version.
3) Monitors, get the most expensive you can afford. KRKs will do you fine if you can get them, plus monitors hold their resale value well should you decide to upgrade in the future.
Finally, check out the Guide To Producing Dubstep at the top of the board, and also feel free to make use of the search function in the top right. All of the questions you have asked have been answered here in depth elsewhere. Actually fuck it, I will lock this thread, can't really think of anything else that needs to be said.
Read everything, watch everything, try everything. Experiment. Mess around. Learn. And PM me if you need any further specific questions answering.
