Monitors...
How important are they to the production of listenable music?
This is my passion, but all i have are these logitech speakers, they have a lot of bass but obviously not a flat frequency.
Bottom line is should i get monitors? Do all good producers have them? And if I get them do i need a certain size to get full bass response?
BTW if you care heres my soundcloud, http://soundcloud.com/brianquestionmark my last 2 songs have a lot of bass, too much? too little? I have no idea.

Bass is important but the entire track is not made from bass.brianisdead wrote:How important are they to the production of listenable music?

You want speakers with a flat response to produce music that will be the most pleasing on most systems.
But that being said, they`re not essential and a good set of headphones can also do the job

In that case...
New thread topic!
I just broke my crappy skullcandy headphones (dont buy headphones at radio shack the day before you go to thailand)
What kind should I get? Keep in mind they are also for listening, I will bring them to class everyday. Or is it impossible to have both good listening and monitoring phones in one? Thanks!

Re: Monitors...
Sadly it seems like people have started buying and reviewing STUDIO MONITORS for their home listening pleasure. Can you recommend a pair? and do they actually have a flat bass response in my uninformed opinion you cant actually hear how the bass will feel with headphones.

Re: Monitors...
I have to say the importance of monitors for producing/mixing to a good level cannot be stressed enough in my opinion.
If i was setting up a studio from scratch to make music, they would be one of/if not the first thing i would go for.
