Preyfour - Rock This (Chipstep/Dubstep)

Post by Preyfour » Fri Oct 14, 2011 6:41 pm

Been producing dubstep now for around 7/8 months, so I'm rather new to this whole producing game. I also have a thing for chiptune, so I tend to throw a lot of that stuff in there too. Feedback would be lovely! :)

Cheers.

Awww hell yeaaaaaaah I love chiptunes! I love your melodies! That siren in the intro is so cheesy though lol. I'd almost like a little bit more of your 8bit stuff in the drop, even if it's pushed into the background. You can sneak them in there right above your midrangey wobbles with a highpass, maybe? It might get too busy, I just think the drop and the intro sound a little too distinct right now. Your mixing sounds spot on to me, good job man.

Check out my own 'chipstep' song if you get the chance! Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks for the kind words man, I was expecting a lot worse than that! I know that the siren is cheesy as hell, but I just couldn't help myself! I did try throwing in some more melodies after the drop, but it did get insanely busy (but taking into account that I didn't try it with a high pass thrown on top, that could be why).

I'll check out your track now and give you some feedback too! :)

In that case, it's great how you've actually stuck so heavily to the chiptune genre, the sounds are absolutely stunning.
Only critisism I can really provide is that the master level seems a little low in the intro, other than that I love it.

Keep up the good work man, you've just got yourself another Soundcloud follower!

Agree about the siren... It just doesn't fit. Overall I guess I agree with Triphosphate. More chiptune in the main hook would be great.
And in my opinion the wobbles could use a bit of work to get them to sound a bit more unique... I personally am tired of the same sounds and the bit crushed vocal wobble or whatever.

Thanks Preyfour! Following you too! I sense a chiptune collab/vs in our near distant future, maybe? :) haha

omg hypefiend how did you get that sound a 0:44 in your sig, I really could work that into one of my tracks man holy shit haha

@Preyfour that song is sick has soo much potential to be perfect, just cut out some of your bass every now and then to throw in an arpeggio of that chiptune sounding synth, it will be gold!
