Graphic card radiation,hearable?

Post by modulate_inc » Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:22 am

Hi guys,

everytime when i crank my mixer up (to control monitor loudness) i hear some crackeling, and sweeping.
I tried almost everything,using my Internal soundcard (M-Audio 2496) and different external Cards (Esi u24xl / Motu / ....)
Everytime i hear that crap!!

If i move my mouse,i can hear the graphic card (or CPU) working, so i dont think it is an external issue.

Anyone an idea?

Thanks!

I can hear that sometimes through the headphones on my laptop.

it could be a ground loop. you'll probably need to get balanced connections and other stuff if you have a ground loop, lots of info on the web but it can be a pain.

also check where your sound is coming from. Usually it's either some kind of ground loop, or interference from other devices.

yea,need to check that.
i´ll try 2 circiuts first. Maybe it´s really a ground loop. :)

I had a similar problem when using rca cables into my monitors, i switched over to two guitar leads and it was fixed. May be something completely different though, but it's worth a try if you have those leads lying around like I did.

Super experimental.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

the problem is not just the sound through my monitor, even in my INPUT in ableton i can see a lil bit of Sound coming in ( if everything is Muted)
and if i wear headphones, just the same sh***!

i earthed the outside of my signal cable to my pc, that sorted my issue out. can be a pain to find out what the problem is. i get cpu whine on my laptop, only when i use the crappy intel built in audio chip. you shouldn't get that if you have a usb or firewire interface, so i'd think its definitely some sort of ground loop. is there an earth point on your audio interface?
