HDD prices

After these Thailand floods and the 100%+ price increases, am I the only one worried about this?
I was gonna pick up a couple of internal TB's the other week. £34 each I think. Didn't bother, thought I'd wait til November payday when I have more money and the drives would've got a few quid cheaper as well.
Now, the cheapest I can find a TB is £102 - for a refurbished Seagate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm currently in the process of compressing and uploading all the data I can't afford to lose to my web server. It's going to be looooooooooooooong, but fuck paying £200 for a decent hard drive.
I just hope this causes more investment/progress/price drops in the SSD market.
Absolute madness.
Opinions?

this was the first i'd heard of it. it appears its everywhere, so not much we can do. just either suck it up and pay the price if you really need one, or wait it out in the hope that prices will drop.

I still got my 500gig external I have my whole pc on basically and also load all my samples of there (have backup of all my projects and songs etc), which is nowhere near full, it was only £20, I am so not worried.

Yeah I didn't believe my mate when he told me. Until I checked ebuyer
I was possibly being a bit dramatic in the original post. There are a few places around where you can cop standard-priced hard drives right now, but once this batch are gone, prices are no doubt going up everywhere.
I got a 1TB WD 7200rpm 32mb cache from Amazon last night for £60. Not too bad. Better than £100+ anyway.
There was a load of cheap 1TB USB3 external drives on ebay yesterday too
If you need storage, I highly suggest you get it now

Was thinking of throwing a SSD into a computer build I'm working on but the prices haven't seem to move and don't look like they will. Guess I'll have to settle for a standard 1TB drive

here in holland your better off buying an external drive. you can always take out the harddrive in that casing and put it in your computer if you need the sata speed. otherwise just be patient or delete some porn :p
