Liking the intro, particuarly the panning you've employed with the effect (light flange?) to get the sounds dancing around the headphones. Kick is feeling very hollow when it comes in, arrrrgh loving that panned amen break that sweeps from l-to-r in the mix

Mid range isn't too shabby, nothing special though but it does compliment the higher end melody nicely. Not too sure about that vocal sample that sounds like it's just creeping in there - feel it cuts out a bit too abruptly in the mix; maybe add a longer tail on the reverb/delay employed on it.

2nd half of the tune loses it a bit for me, doesn't bring in any more elements/variety than in the first part. Overall, impressive base for a tune but either needs to have a bit more variety on be a lot shorter to hold interest.

I really like this. Cool intro and as Wub said the use of the amen is really good. Think the vocal is a little bit quiet and one of the basses could do with a touch more volume IMO. But on the whole good job

Thanks so much guys I really appreciate that. Wub, great feedback, I'll revisit and see what I can do to accentuate that second half.
I've always had a soft spot for the simpler style of arrangement in Dubstep from the early-mid 2000s when it focused more on the hook theme and penetrating repetition, so I've been trying to simplify my comps a lot more. On the other hand I tend to want more sound in the arrangement, so the end product might seem half assed in that department.

Perfect example would be "Simple City" by Skream, which has a very basic drop, and almost repeats for the entire track, the second half being a variation of the first, but still extreeeemely basic in arrangement. Then you have tracks by the Widdler which cinematically (and very effectively) tell an entire story in under 4 minutes. In this track I feel slightly stuck in the middle I want to tell a story, but I also want to make a bumper that an audience can enjoy inside the repetition. Again, thanks for your comments, I'll see if I can get a rework together in the next couple weeks.

100 percent agree with whats been said above pretty much. The intro synth work is pretty good and really grabs your attention and keeps it with the tune but as Wub said I actually felt a little let down when I heard the first Kick. It felt a little weak, bit of a shame really. Great base of a tune though I must admit, a pretty good standard of production, well done.

Do you mean the kick felt weak in the mix, or the placement of the kick altogether? Or both?

first off, sick track!

i still get caught up in the thoughts you mentioned on simple meditative vs evolving and adventurous. in mixes simple tracks are a good way to balance the flow and set a solid foundation.

this is tune is a good balance of the two though, works as an upper from a "simple" track and can be a solid foundation down from a more progressive track.

tune for a mix vs single tune for listening. WHAT DO!?

hahaha, thanks @xthewiddler. That was exactly the justification I tried to give myself when I laid down the groundwork for this track, I guess I just couldn't get it to MY 100%. Rework in order, but I do like a lot of it, and happy with the vibe, the mix overall, and of course the amen breaks
