Ipad users: recording/composing help

Post by Manic Harmonic » Sat Nov 19, 2011 12:10 am

Hey guys, I just got an ipad 2 (as well as an alesis studiodock on the way) and I'm doing a blog for school on tablet music production.

I'm going to start out just posting songs and sounds made with different apps, but for the final I would like to make an entire song on the ipad. I know the gorillaz did a full album, but it wasnt specified how they did it or if they used another computer to record the mixes.

So... what I would like to know is, is there any way to record other apps, or run multiple apps at once? I've tried running animoog and garageband simultaneously and when i switch apps the other one stops making sound. Even a way to save ounds as wav files and import them into another app would suffice.

I was hoping some of you guys involved with tabletop would no how to do such a thing.
keep in mind i am trying to not touch my laptop for this project if possible. btw I am on ios5, so i can't jailbreak it.

Sometimes I just don't know, you know what I mean?

They recorded the Ipad somehow externally or with another ipad maybe. Anyway they did the mix/master work in a studio SO they had to have tracked everything while recording the album.
