fl studio/sylenth1 problem

Post by broadus » Mon Nov 21, 2011 3:38 pm

Hi, been lurking around these forums for the past couple of months, and although i'm not producing dubstep, it's been a great help. Anyway, i've run into a problem with sylenth in fl studio - when playng a pattern, some notes are randomly missed on the sylenth channel. I've turned off all the effects assigned to the channel, played it solo, messed around with the synth itself but nothing seems to work. Anyone got any ideas? I am very new to producing by the way, so if this is a very basic error, apologies! Cheers.

First thought is... When I started using FL Studio, I would turn some notes in piano roll to slide. You can do this just by clicking improperly when you lay the note down. So, if you look at the notes you have placed on the piano roll, do any of them have a little green triangle in the bar on the left end? If so, it is a slide, not a note. You can change it from slide to note by double clicking the note in the piano roll and disabling slide.

Seems silly but I had fits with that when I started using FL.

Nope afraid that's not it, I did this channel in the step sequencer. Sent to piano roll anyway but none of the notes are turned to slide. I should add that it is random, different notes are missed on each loop. Thanks anyway.

My guess is that at the top left of sylenth it has a "polyphony" number. If that number is 3, and you play 4 notes, then only 3 will play, and it wioll be somewhat random which 3. Try raising that number up.

Polyphony is set to 6, changing it up or down makes no difference. I thought the issue might have been having two instances of sylenth on the same pattern somehow clashing, but deleting either one doesn't solve the problem. Anyone else got any ideas? Thanks so far.

This does sound like a very basic error or the result of using cracks. Both are hard to rectify over the web with little information.

If you shorten all of the notes in the sequence, and none of them overlap, are some notes still skipped?

Do you have an lfo modulating cutoff? An adsr modulating cutoff?

Reduce the amount of modulation, still missing notes?

Best of luck.
