What kind of "delay" do you use..
.. on your samples, or do you find it easier to programme the notes in midi?
Or if you want a dirtier sound, how do you go about getting a mad ping pong effect? Do you need gear or is it possible with a VST?

This will probably give you what you want -> http://www.kvraudio.com/get/892.html
And please tell me you haven't been programming delay with midi notes

That plugin looks a little suspicious to me. If you programme it note by note, it's more precise, and you can get it bang on tempo.
Here's an example of the sort of thing I'm on about.

What do you mean by suspicious? The vst is a .dll, its not going to do anything to your system. And its beat synced so it can fall on quarter notes, eighth notes, etc, with the option to add groove. Your DAW should also have a built in delay with tempo sync.

No Ableton here yet. Working with Soundforge (Multi tap and Simple delay) and Fruity Loops, though I'll be upgrading to a macbook soon, so I'll proabably have to learn Logic.123kidd wrote:stock ableton plugins for me.

Ok, thanks. I will try it but it looks a bit unprofessional to me, a bit shifty. Does it help to have chorus and reverb and white noise on the same chain?oWLinDaylight wrote:What do you mean by suspicious? The vst is a .dll, its not going to do anything to your system. Re: What kind of "delay" do you use..
how can you say a vst looks unprofessional when you dont know whether you can get delay using a vst!? you dont wanna do delay by programming midi, just slam a delay plugin on there, fruity loops should have a stock delay plugin anyway!Metropolis wrote:No Ableton here yet. .. but Fruity Loops stock plugins ain't exactly going to help me sound like Ed Rush and Optical, are they?
Does Logic come equipped with interesting delay plugins?

Mda's Dub Delay is great, but I find myself using Audio Damage's DubStation way more often.

it doesnt matter what plugins you have, they all do basically the same thing. but ive never used fruity loops so i dunno what the sock plugins realy do. logics plugins are well substantial enough to make pro tracks.

Re: What kind of "delay" do you use..
stock delay plugins are all fine, and better ones are great but are not the secret to sounding like ... whoever. MIDI notes are not more accurate than a tempo-synced delay. It is also a completely different effect to program midi note repeats, than it is to use delay FX on audio signals.
Yeah, this thread is what looks shifty to me. You are either insane or just trolling.

Re: What kind of "delay" do you use..
No plugin can do this, but learning how to effectively use even stock plugins will. You can't judge free vsts by their GUI's, they people making them don't get any benefit by wasting their time making it look more "professional."Metropolis wrote:.. but Fruity Loops stock plugins ain't exactly going to help me sound like Ed Rush and Optical, are they?![]()

Re: What kind of "delay" do you use..
abletons delays are great, I use nothing else. except and electro harmonix delay pedal that i use for vocals...
Re: What kind of "delay" do you use..
on bass, short 20-40ms delay with a good bit of feedback.
on higher synths and hats, etc, ping pong or simple delay in ableton always works.

Why's chrous and reverb on the same chain a bad thing? Is it acceptable to use delay on your sub bass?
