So it looks like im gonna HAVE to learn ableton.

Post by RandoRando » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:47 am

FL is acting like a stupid bitch, in asio i cant get the sound to go through my headphone jack like it always has, its only coming out of my laptop speakers.. which is unacceptable, it just did this shit randomly. But the asio on ableton is working fine,, so the point of this thread is any good reads, or youtube videos (preferably a series of videos. about learning the essentials of ableton, even complex ones tuts. Because theres gonna be those times where i say well i could do this in FL now how the hell do i do this in Ableton. So any help guys please.

thanks.

merry christmas and happy new year. ( if they celebrate xmas in london)

Why do you think everyone on DSF, apart from you lives in London?

Also why not just buy FL studio, seeing as you're so proud to be a user?

If you have bought it why not contact IL?

You don't HAVE to learn anything. Why not stick with the DAW you bought if it's what you're used to. Besides there are a shit ton of vids and info out there.

By the way, it is dark both in London and the US right now...

I'm used to using FLs patcher alot for crazy signal chains (I'll post a bid of it when o get home) how hard do you think it would be in ableton? Is there anything other than sends and busses that can be used for somethin like that?

Yes, there are what are called instrument racks and effect racks. You can build whatever chains you want and save them.

I moved from FL to Ableton, it's weird at first but now it just feels second nature opening Ableton.
You can download a 30 day trial from http://www.ableton.com/downloads

and this guy has some pretty good tutorials for Ableton aswell :W:

Tom Cosm's videos are ridiculously helpful. This video is part 1 of a 10 hour tutorial, but unfortunately you have to be a paying subscriber on his site to view all of them. The first two parts are still very useful though.

we may be the least religious country in the world but and excuse for a piss up!

Rando, have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling FL?

if that doesn't work reload your system to it original factory settings and start from scratch. remember to back everything up.

don't give up on your software just because something went wrong. if it was working fine before i'm sure you can get it going again.

I figured it out^^

Idk what went wrong but thank god for FLs back ip feature. I just opened a earlier version of that lasttune I was workin on and its all good now. Somethin with autotune messed up FL. but came to realize the vocal sounded better without it. I still am innards try to learn ableton and reason though.

I've been tempted to switch to ableton and have at times from FL, however the one thing that has gotten me is just how annoying, small and clunky the piano roll seems compared to FL's.

Especially since most of my music relies on melody, ableton's piano roll is frustrating to work with compared to FL's.

That's the main reason, since in terms of other features ableton has a leg up and I would have switched a long time ago.
