LOGIC - the levels are too low!!! HELP

Post by Sonika » Mon Dec 19, 2011 5:10 am

Hey guys,

I use Logic Express 9. When I am playing my tunes in Logic, everything sounds fine, but when I bounce them to iTunes, the levels are mad low!

What do I do?

Please help...I'm sure it's a basic fix, but it's very frustrating! :u:

Example: if you look at my Soundcloud, the two tunes I have posted there are both very low volume, but they sound fine when I play them in Logic!

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Go to your master bus in logic and whack a maximizer preset on it and see how that sounds. If the levels go up then just mess around with that preset to make it sound good. Other than that look into how to use compression properly and working on your mixdowns.

So I have absolutely no idea how to master.
I use compression on some tracks, mostly drums, mostly because I just like how I cam change the sound with it.
And a maximizer preset? Is that an effect such as compression, channel EQ etc that I just don't know about?
Also, I have heard a lot of talk about mixdowns, but I have no idea.......
What are they, what is their purpose, and how does one go about them?

Thanks for the patience

Arright, arright, but I have already learned so much from DSF, I was hoping you guys could help me out a little more. I'm only 13 and I've only been producing for around 6 months so I really have no experience with mastering and shit.

hahaha ok but that seems kind of like going to a lotta work when I shouldnt....

come on, logic should be able to do that?
If THAT seems like a lot of work for you, you'll really need to develop some patience now before you start getting to the nitty gritty tech stuff. Production in general is a lot of work. Get used to it. :x

It's more that it just seems like Logic should be able to do it...that's kind of a basic flaw, right?

No, just that for some reason it brings the levels DOWN...why can't they stay the same as they were in the original logic file?
