Huge atmospheric explosion?

Post by acrap » Sun Jan 01, 2012 8:48 pm

I've seen two artists do this now primarily xkore its sound super awsome i can hear the sound moving throughout my speakers and its like an initial explosion that either opens up a song or is used for transitions before buildups. This gives a track tremendous presence but i dont know how tough it is to do. Here's an example of what i'm talking about. Its the first sound in this song

The first sound seems like a snare hit is reversed and used to elongate the attack of the snare impact; he probably reversed one of the topend layers of the snare or high passed the reversed sample.

You can do that with any sample/hit/one-shot, reverse the clip add verb/delay if you like, and line it up with the impact of the hit so you have a sort of extended crescendo like attack leading into the sample.

It's a kick with a lot of midrange put through a reverb with a long decay, with a crash cymbal on top for extra spice in the high frequencies. Certainly used to be called a kick bomb. Trance producers used to love it, back when trance was worth a damn.

Yeah just like guys above said. It's pretty easy to create. Layer some sounds, reverb, bounce to wav. reverse some, layer more for taste. ;-)
