Beginning DJ help

Ive been producing for a while and want to get into DJing, what is some equipment that I should get. ie, good/cheap turntables, mixers, speakers

Depends what you want to use.

Vinyl = technics players are perfect.

Cdj = anything from pioneer. Wouldn't recommend anything else, but cheaper decks are good to learn the basics.

Mixers = personally I only really go for Allen and Heath or pioneer. The xone 22 is great for bedroom mixing. Also something like the djm 350 or 250 if you prefer pioneer. There are plenty of other mixers out there though. Some great some shit. But those 2 Brands are club standard.

Just search the Internet to get a rough idea.

Also it's tempting to go really cheap for your first gear but the resale value is terrible.Technics turntables and pioneer CDJ's will hold their value much better if you decide to give it up in a years time or whatever.

was just about to say that. it's tempting to buy cheap gear when you're stoked to get mixing and you're also thinking that if you buy cheap equipment you dont lose that much money if you happen to decide you don't like dj:ing. but the catch is that if you buy proper gear you'll certainly get your money back, with budget stuff it's a different story.

i've also heard some people start practicing to become a dj with just a traktor and a controller, with no cdj:s or turntables. it's cheaper to start off like that and i'd think the controller holds its value much better than some cheap turntables but doesn't really give the right picture about dj:ing as you're just twisting knobs on a pad.

i got myself reloop turntables i'm pretty happy about it but i rather want technics so if you can go for technics turntables go for it, as a mixer i would recommend an ecler, allen & heath or pioneer and i would recommend pioneer CDJ

traktor and a controller is all you need to start....at this point it's a waste to get decks & mixers since no one will be using them in 5 years besides old blow hards like myself...

I'd rather have the decks, its just straight up cooler with actual vinyl

personally picking up a set of CDJ 200's in a week or so, not the newest decks, but it's more than a start, i'd say if you ever get the chance to own a vinyl setup, and you have vinyl to play, get one, if it's a hobby i'm sure you'll already feel this way.

Traktor Pro 2 and some controllers is a great start. If you have the extra cash get time-coded vinyl.
