Dubstep Dictionary

Post by ashley » Tue Jun 26, 2007 9:47 pm

Im bored and was thinking maybe a few people dont understand such words like bassface and percy and stuff so I thought maybe we can put together a small dictionary of dubstep related words?

A

B
Bassive (ba - sief) - adjective
Bassive is a word constructed of "Bass" and "Massive" together to give a description that a tune has massive bass.

Example:
Eugene: This tune is basssive bludd!

--------------------------------------------------

Bassface (bass - face) - adjective
A word used to describe someones facial expression when a massive bassline comes along or a big drop occurs in a tune. Its hard to describe the ideal bassface but they usually consist of screwed up faces with "angry eyebrows" and puffed out cheecks and tight lips building up pressure in someones face making them look as if they are about to attack someone with a brick or just that they appear to be constipated. If a lucky rave go-er manages to take a snap, one eye of the bassface usually ends up bigger than the other.

Example:
Eugene: Mary had a bassface and it looked like she was about to batter Fanny into a pulp

Brap - (brrrrrrrrrap) misc
A noise generally heard when a "big riddim" is dropped or several bars of lyrics were so insane the track that they were spat over was instantly "pulled-up".

Example:
Wiley: I am wiley and im gettin hyper, gettin dirty like a babys diaper
Crowd: BRRRRAP!!
Wiley: Pull up that bludclart riddim
*Dj stops the tune preparing to play it from the beginning*

Biggles - (big - gals) - adjective
No definition.

C

Cieling Crumbs (noun) [see-ling kruhms]
what you may in your beer when you experience dubstep on a heavy sound system in an enclosed area, such as, but not limited to, a basement.

"the morning after pure filth i found bare ceiling crumbs on my pillow"

D

Do do do do doooo doooooo doooooooooo - (do do do dooo) - misc
The sounds usually generated by a Dubstepper on their journeys whilst listening to Benga vs Coki - Night via their mp3 player oblivious to the outside world.

Example:
Commuter: Do do do do dooo dooooo dooooooooooooooooooo

Dubaholic - (Dub - a - hol - ic) - adjective
A word to describe most if not all members of this forum.
Related to or resulting from dubstep.
Containing or preserved in dubstep.
A person who listens to or is involved in dubstep habitually and to excess or who suffers from dubaholism.

E

F
Filth! - (fee - ilth) - adjective
Describing a tune to appear as "dutty" or "grimey". Often used by N-Type.

Example:
N-Type: This tune is fiiiiiillllllthh!!

G

Gunfingers - (Gun - fin - garz) - noun
What dubsteppers do with their fingers when listening to dubstep (ooh betty). Can lead to aching forearms if you've got puny arms like Paolo
Also an alternative for those who dont smoke and therefore do not carry lighters.

H

Hang/Hold tight - (ang tite) - adjective
Saying this repeatedly is apparently a call to arms for the dubstep souljahs. Often used as a phrase to big up certain individuals locked into a radio session or makes themselves obvious at a rave.

Example: "Hang tight [insert most of the names on this forum]!!!"

P
Percy (per - see) - adjective
Percy is used to describe a tune as ones more personal favourite. Can also be described as a "percy ingle".

Example:

Q

R

Rodent Smasher (row-dent smash-er) - adjective
The outcome of when a bassline is so huge it makes your hamster go SPLAT or sometimes turns into a funk band
:funkband:

S

Stinkydreads - (stink - ee - dred - z) - noun/adjective
Dreadlocks that stink of bad odour. Usually ones that havent been washed or have been dipped in several pints while furiously skanking to Coki beats.

Dude1: Oi you wanker, you dipped your dreads in my pint!!
Dude2: Errrr shut up man your chattin air...
Dude1: Go wash your hair you crusty trustafarian!

T

Tune/Tuneage - (ch - oon) - adjective

Is it right for me to hate the use of the word "percy"

when used "this is my percy" it sounds stupid IMO

Only said by the great N type can it work.....

My issue is that these aint "Dubstep words"

Its like trying to claim, "sup" as a Hip Hop term, or Skank as a ska term....

Who classes Dubstep as a culture?
