I need some help with a ghetto-rigged bass.

Post by Fromosapien » Sat Jan 07, 2012 5:04 am

Hey guys,

I recently stumbled across d_blue Glitch. I tried running some drum samples through it to make a stereotypical breakdown, and I wound up turning everything off but the retrigger. I'm a bit heavy on the knobs, so I set it the retrigger to it's maximum setting. It wound up making one of the grimiest basses I've ever heard. Is this a common method to getting a bass? How is the retrigger giving the dums a pitch?

Anyway, I tried a bunch of different one-shots (kicks, snares, claps, and hi-hats primarily ) and got particularly cool sounds each time. I have FL, so I put the playlist with the drum-turned-bass into the song editor and exported it as a .wav. I chopped everything up in Audacity and put them in my packs folder. I'm trying to find a decent sampler that will allow me to use these samples. A lot of these samples are 2 beats at 140bpm, I need to be able to play them as 8th/16th/Quarter/Whole notes. Any ideas?

Thanks,
~Will
