Who Still Buys Vinyl?

Post by djcable » Mon Jan 16, 2012 2:06 am

I'm sure this has been asked a number of times.

Given that a lot of labels are now either turning digital (or starting out digital), how many of you guys actively buy vinyl?

I still purchase the odd bit of wax every now and then, but it's merely for collecting/archiving purposes (classics, ltd. edition pressings).

i only buy vinyl, partly because i only have technics turntables and partly because its cool having something physical to dig through when selecting tunes. i don't buy all that much though so it doesn't get too expensive.

to be honest i can see myself moving to digital in the near future, almost entirely for transportation purposes as i live between different cities, but also because so many labels are exclusively digital now

I stopped buying vinyl when all the record strores in my city closed, wasn't keen to pay mega bucks to ship half way across the world (NZ) went and brought serato so i could keep the vinyl feel..best move ive made to be honest..specially the free tunes thing, and being able to pick and choose what tunes you want off EPs

Still have a massive vinyl collection that i play regularly :4:

i do.. as do lots of people... if nobody was buying it the record labels would have no choice but to stop
i know it's not a big money earner anymore really but nobody's going to put massive holes in the label budget just to keep vinyl alive

Love getting a few new bits of wax on pay day. Nothing like the feel of it, although do work with digital stuff aswell as is too damn expensive to keep up with :(

Yes! I'd probably loose interest in DJing if vinyl was to die. Still love going to SOTU/Phonica/Sister Ray/BM to pick stuff out, not really into buying online.

I buy only vinyl although there are no good record stores in my area.
I'm from central europe. I order my vinyl mainly from the UK and Germany.

vinyl of course. but if i had the money, i'd buy serato and play vinyl and digital combined. i've done it few times with friends' equipment and it's cool :)

I only buy the best tracks on vinyl, obviously somethings are only available on certain formats though. Theres nothing like the smell of wax and the pop and crackle when the needle touches the record.

I buy a few vinyls a year. Vinyl sales are up quite a bit since 2010 so I guess a lot of people still
buy em.

The reason why most record labels are digital is probably because everyone just wants to use CD instead of vinyl, very disapointing :(

I do buy vinyl but i don't buy to much. Tunes that i really like and some ep's/albums. I just like to have something physical in my hands, also like the whole searching for vinyl thing.
