Simon Cowell’s SYCO ENTERTAINMENT partner with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith’s OVERBROOK ENTERTAINMENT on the development and launch of a live, new international TV format to find the world’s greatest DJs.
This new format has already been developed and will be co-produced by SYCO and OVERBROOK. The show will capture the incredible rise of the DJ phenomena. It has been in development for over a year and SYCO, OE and Sony Pictures Television will soon announce their broadcast partners in both the US and the UK.
Simon Cowell said: “We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.”
“This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent,” said Jada Pinkett-Smith, ” I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family.
“We are thrilled to be working with Simon Cowell and our partners at Overbrook on what we know will be a tremendously successful global format,” said Andrea Wong, President of International Production for Sony Pictures Television.

This type of show won't even provide laughs like xfactor has with their awful singers. Listening to a bad mix is just uncomfortable and provides no entertainment. I can't ever see this getting shown let alone becoming popular.

there'll be some Ali G lookalike who'll try and headstand on the decks and hopefully the pin in the middle will act like a bolt gun used to kill cattle and i can record it and push it as snuff to OFWGKTA fans who think its edgy and current

I understand that, but then the show should be called World's Greatest Turntablist, not Worlds Greatest DJ... It cheapens all the other talents of the art to a few scratching tricks... Like BroStep takeover of "Dubstep"... people think that's what it actually is. So 2 years from now, after the show becomes a sucess (i hope not) every teen idiot will think "DJ" = Flipping 3 records simulatenously and sample jumping...
