Kujikuru: AK-DUB (Short edit) [ravey, deep]

Wanted some feedback on a tune I just made ... its the short edit and want to put up the full song by the weekend ... before I do, I wanna get sum feedback and pointers on improving it ...its a ravey/grimey style tune, not hardcore, but its got rhythm and bass, a couple of standard wobbles .. nothing to hard ... I like it ... but thats me ... feel free to comment ....

Personally I would get some more snap on the kick, maybe add another sample to the top with some click on it. I like using old school break kicks for the and just hi passing them. Also give some more of the low frequency spectrum to the kick and get a lower snare in there to add some balls to the snare as well. A bit of side chaining here may go a long way to clear the air for the kick and snare to shine a bit more. So ye overall nice start bro, just get those drums pumping and hitting to drive it forward

.. gonna have to get clued up on side-chaining - don't use it 'cos I neva learned - not part of my production tools (yet)... like the idea on the kicks ... thing is .. won't having a lower frequency on the kicks distort wiv the sub bass? Definately work on the snares ... being lazy ... use the same claps in most my tunes ..

No worries bro.

You have to be careful yes with sub bass and kick drums. But that's where you have to use EQ carefully to carve frequencies, and also side chaining the bass slightly the kick helps to make some space. What I personally tend to do is have a kick that has some low end power, roll off up to about 55 - 70 HZ, I'll also make sure the kick has a nice twack at around 120-150Hz. Then I will low pass the bass down to about 90, carve some eq to fit the low portion of the kick and then have another upper part of the bass sitting around 400Hz. this can help give the illusion of the bass being more overpowering....but this one doesn't need to sit high in the mix at all.
