custom single cycle waveforms and alchemy

Post by crutch » Tue Feb 14, 2012 9:40 pm

hello all,

been experimenting with single cycle wave forms and have a had some problems loading them into alchemy, ive got as far as converting the .wav file into .raw (as thats what the standard waveforms are in), put them into the correct folder. but when i try to play the get a standard saw..?

anyone know if its even possible to load custom waveforms into alchemy..? it might be to do with sample rate/bit size but cant analyze the alchemy waveforms.

also, is it possible to load stereo data into a waveform? like if i take a sound, split it, and make its high end really wide, bounce and take a waveform, will that stereo information be in the new waveform? if that makes any sense?

thanks in advance, hit a bit of a brick wall on this!!! :u:

I use this method quite a lot, got me an library of single cycle waveforms sampled from old analog synths, sweetness guaranteed!

In the main window on oscillator A click on the window where the name of your waveform is, by default 'SAW', now click 'Import Audio' and find the desired sound in the file browser.

Are you shure? Actually i do this the same way and it works without any problems. If you're on mac the correct folder is: Library/Application Support/Camel Audio/Alchemy/Libraries/WaveOsc
Drag your waveformfolder in there and you should be able to find them under "load VA"...

By the way, here is a pretty cool and free waveformpack: http://www.adventurekid.se/akrt/wavefor ... waveforms/

i don't see the point in this - i thought that analog synths waveforms varied over time, whereas yours will stay exactly the same as its only one cycle. any va synth can do that(such as z3ta where you can just draw the waveform in).

Yeah I tried that, it works sorta, but it does that via additive synthesis. I want the wave to be like all the other waves so then potentially I could get a sound and resynthesise it with the custom wave.

Hmmm, that's what I did but I get the default saw... What format was it in?

.raw ... maybe something is wrong with your converter. Did you try the waveforms i linked? These should work...

That might be it, it was throwing out error messages on a few files. didn't see those waves no, but thanks. D/ling now!
