Easy All,
I've just got back off holiday, and there's a smoking ban in full effect. Until now, being a 'Toker' as apposed to a 'Smoker', I hadn't really thought about it. But then it dawned on me... THEY'RE GONNA TRY TO STOP US TOKIN' IN CLUBS, AREN'T THEY???!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Does anyone know the sore on this? Is it still possible to Toke freely in certain clubs, without being done by the public health & safety act?? Surely, it must be…

Shite, indeed.
Deep down I knew the truth, but I was hoping someone was going to shout "WAKE UP MAN!! YOU'RE HAVING A NIGHTMARE! ... IT'S ALL JUST A BAD DREAM!!!"
I don't want to sound like some desperado, but I'm gonna miss all that sweet smelling thick smoke that filled all the corners of a club, and being lean to all that sub-base...

LOL. being an american, i find this funny.
they are crazy about enforcing marijuana laws around here. i live in indiana, where we are reputed to be one of the most anal retentive about making sure people aren't high and relaxed.
much better if we all eat bad food and drink too much.
what a country...

itll take a few years but itll lax up a bit, i presume more so than it has on the west coast as we've kind of always been anti-smoking. before you know there will be bars where you can pay off your barkeep to smoke in ease (as it takes a few citations before anyone gets fined around here) or underground gems where weed and cigarettes are permissable. when those days come, you too will breath a smoke filled sigh of relief.

shit man, this is all wrong... i mean, i understand that non-smokers do not want to breath smoke but i dont think this justifies the ban,
smoking is addictive so in my eyes smokers are just sick people (just like junkies) and in a way handicaped.. so banning smoking is racism against handicaped people..... Also i dont get how this health concern thing works.. why not use it in other fields as well ??? i dont drive a car and i dont want to breath your smog, why dont we ban cars ???

You don't drive a car but you are as reliant on carbon based energy as anyone else living in modern day western society. our infrastructure is entirely dependant on it

Neva, but its easy to get away with when theres loads of smoke about anyway, easy to turn a blind eye etc.
If it was legal to snort airvac in clubs everyone would get away with chorin lines innit

I only smoke weed when I need to,
And I need to get some rest,
I confess, I burnt a hole in the mattress,
Yes, yes, it was me, I plead guilty
I cant get no sleep

You've got to be pretty mentally handicapped to start smoking in the first place, fair enough if you enjoy smoking, but to accept it as huge part of your finances and lifestyle is pretty fucking stupid IMO and i'm kinda glad its banned, altho going into a bar 2nite the place stunk of farts and walking into dmz without the punky pungent in the ether is gonna weird. Granted when im out on a weekend i can accept that im gonna breathe in smoke cos my personal substance abuse overshadows the 2nd hand smoke, but, walking in on weekday to grab a pint from the pub and stinking of smoke after 30 mins is not a good look. So im in limbo a bit, but atleast im not addicted to a chemical and spending 5 quid a day to inhale 3'000 chemicals outside in the english summer.

but not for long...
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A Dutch smoking ban will come into force in July next year for all restaurants and cafes -- including coffee shops where cannabis is the top attraction, the government decided on Friday.
"Coffee shops will be treated in the same manner as other catering businesses. They will be smoke-free," Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende told NOS television.
"It would have been wrong to move towards a smoke-free catering industry and then make an exception for coffee shops. People would not have understood that."
Establishments will not in fact have to be completely smoke-free. Proprietors will be allowed to set up a separate room or glass partition behind which people can smoke, but customers will not be served there to protect staff.
"Employees should not have to work in an environment were they are constantly exposed to the harmful effects of smoking," Balkenende said after the cabinet's decision on Friday.
Amsterdam's renowned coffee shops, where marijuana can be smoked openly in a relaxed atmosphere, are one of the city's big draws for tourists.
Coffee shop owners argue that the ban only applies to tobacco and was unlikely to hit them hard.
Whilst commonly mixed with tobacco, marijuana can also be smoked on its own, especially in pipes, vaporisers and other contraptions.
Soft drugs are officially banned in the Netherlands but under a policy of tolerance, buyers are allowed to have less than 5 grams of cannabis in their possession.
