Purple Sound!? Edit; Re-worked Version
I got a track together in three days. Probably the quickest I'v ever written a song.
Just wanna see what you veterans think of it. Not just production but musically as well.
Cheers!

Re: Purple Sound?
The metally sounding hat sample in the intro is very loud compared to the rest of the hits, and stands out a bit. Liked the build up to the break, and the way the synth lines evolves. Good progression towards the latter half of the tune, particularly the 4x4 switch up on the kick programming.
Kick itself is a little on the flat side, maybe boost a bit to give some more power to it?

Re: Purple Sound?
percussion is a bit flat, and i think in some places it needs a bit of space, after 0.54 the synth repeated every 2 bars seems to get repetitive. same after the breakdown.
really like the progression, especially going into 2.46, really nice! feeling it man, just needs a bit of touching up imo

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.

Re: Purple Sound?
Yeah the switch-up works well. Some nice restrained tom-rumbling on the intro, also the dog growl has me taking off my headphones since it sounds exactly like it was coming outside my window and the cats were sitting down there. It's a tad repetitive however.
Do an indian sounding melody with the overlaying synth in the later part and don't lead into it, just start weawing straight as you get into the 4x4 territory, real psy-trance-like, make it as analog as you can with manual filter tweaks (also Hyperdub is signing psytrance ATM). Drop more stuff towards the end, just the kick, the bashing snares and the oingy boingy (tune it around, like an arpeggio). Since it's busy as all it needs needs a squiggly synth like in a certain housey Benga tune to pop out and in and do cool little motifs. Or maybe just a dub-siren (drop everything except the horns and oingy and let it squiggle for a drop)

Re: Purple Sound?
thought the sound on the lead melody ould be beefed up a bit, try using a saw wave with a bit of distortion instead maybe?
Re: Purple Sound?
I will be revisiting this later to try and combat all the points raised. Thanks guys!
Re: Purple Sound!? Edit; Re-worked Version
Done a Rework. Boosted the kick to cut and fatten. EQ and comping edits on pretty much everything. New synth sounds and edits to the lead line. More automation and changes to percussion etc.
Any criticisms would be greatly appreciated at this point
