Anyone else going to The Big Chill?

Post by dutty yuppie » Tue Jul 10, 2007 1:34 pm

http://www.bigchill.net

I've never been and it wouldn't be my festival of choice but there's a decent line-up actually.

Dubstep DJs announced are Digital Mystikz & Loefah in the dance tent (followed by Hospital Showcase and Marky) and Skream and MAH in the 24 dubshack. 8)

Who's going?

Anyone been before? How loud are the systems?

yep i'll be there. Can't remember the dubshack but the dance tent system should be more than adequate.

Just had a look into Konono No.1, I will not be missing them now! Love African music and the write up has me sold.

Actually, there's more on the bill that I don't want to miss than I thought. I certainly wont be doing a great deal of chilling.

But so much more too

Skitz deserves a mention as well as Shlomo and the Voice Orchestra - top end beatboxing

Saw Tom Middleton perform as 'Amber' at Big Chill in Lulworth Cove a few years back. Reworking Global Communication classics with a Welsh choir. Def worth seeing if he is doing it again this time round.

Nice.

Would love to see that again.

I have only been to the Big Chill the one time. Wasnt so into much of the music (although Gary Cobain of FSOL and Pressure Drop were sick) but fully appreciated all the crazy visual installations they have there.

Could be tempted to go to this...

Last year in Lost Vagueness they had a woman fisting herself and eating her shit as part of the entertainment!! Don't think that's on the agenda this time.

Arrrgh, I was planning on skipping this one due to ridiculously short funds, but it would be the first ive missed in fecking yeeeears, and the line up this time has got to be the best yet.

Might just look into a ticket this afternoon...(but 130 quid, OUCH)

As long as you expect to be seeing alot of business men/women who suddenly become 'hippies' for 5 days before getting back in their land rover freelander to return to their job of selling oil to under priveledged kids and that doesnt bother you its one hell of a festival! (seriously though, everyone you meet will be sound)

Cant go wrong with the music, always something during the day you can happily bump along to (HIGHLY recommend the fat tuesday southern comfort bar!!! Always bare tunage in there, and the soco smash is sex in a pitcher. And gets you baaaaattered) and the dance tent/main stage can be pretty bumping in the evenings.

Oh, and make sure to check out the art trail! Seen some RARE shit in there...

And of course, the place itself is fucking lovely. Could spend the whole festival just wandering about.

Thanks for that. Now, I'm a lawyer but I won't take offence to the hippy comment because I hate hippies and am more like a raver.

The SoCo tent does sound good but I cringe at this new marketing ploy - SoCo!! Urrrggghh - I hope it never catches on.

How's security?

Never catches on? I havent called it anything else in years

And secrity is laxed as you like, never seen anyone have any problems with anything other than glass, and theres not even the remotest effort put into security as you go between the camping and music or anything, just a brief look at yer wristband!

Oh, and hope you didnt take offence :P But it (probably!) wasnt aimed at you anyway, rather the ones who turn up in multi-coloured fairy wings waving a wand at you as you walk past...before returning to their job selling oil to underpiveledged kids...

And as I said, they're still nice :P (And alot less of the "oh my days, what drug are you on" in your face people you get at glade...who are also nice anyway)
