Not paticularly proud of this one but i put alot into it. Tune gets more purple at the switch
up. I'm stepping away from this side of things and going back to the roots.
Gonna start making dark and deep kinda stuff.

Lemmie know what you guys think. And you all know it's about the serious sounds!

Re: DJ Nesh - Enemy of the Enemy (Purple-ish Commerical)
The synth programming is nice but there is slightly too much high end and it gets a bit piercing. The beat is very weak indeed, the snare itself is paper thin and the mid range bass such as it is drowns out the kick for a lot of the time. I'd suggest having another go at the mixdown, it sounds like there is a nice tune in there but it's drowning itself out.

Nice one... I know exactly what you mean. I'm useless and more so impatient with mastering. This was the mp3. Iv'e got a slightly tweaked better sounding WAV that i might upload. For now I guess I might have a go at remastering some old tunes as practice. I'll have a look in the production section when I get time aswell.

I wouldn't really worry about the mastering at all, but get the mixing sorted out. EQ the percussion and mid-bass properly and you get a very solid tune there.
Keep it up!
Keep it up!

Safe man, there was no compression or limiting for the drums, which is probably why the kicks are getting drowned out?
Cool, thanks for the pointers.

Re: DJ Nesh - Enemy of the Enemy (Purple-ish Commerical)
Not necessarily, but could be.
If there's a lot of compression on the other elements, it could kick things out of balance. Flangers/phasers can do the same and close up the sound in the process.
It also depends on the DAW. Basically if you can get satisfying results without using compression, go for it. If not - Compression it is. Experiment with the overall volume levels. Don't know about the other DAWs, but in FL Studio, you can push the volume to 125%, which can be very effectively used on the kick drum as an alternative to percussion. But that also depends on your mixing workflow and style, etc.
All in all, there are countless ways to achieving the same goal, just go for the one that fits best for you.

It' been said before, take some of that compression off & whack the bass up!
