working holidays in Asia

hey guys,
At the moment I'm in New Zealand doing a diploma in travel and tourism. At the end of this year I get a 2-3 month break and i'd like to spend it overseas working. Obviously I'm a student so I'm wanting to keep costs as low as possible, does anyone know of anywhere I can look for entry-level work (eg at bars or hotels etc) in somewhere like Tokyo, or maybe Shanghai? Better yet, has anyone worked in Asia before that has contacts etc they can get me in contact with? It would be much, much appreciated. I really want to make this happen!
