Hi-freq noise problem!!!

hello again,

set up my KRK rokit 6s and im getting a fair bit of hi-freq almost crackerly noise from the 1" Neodymium Soft Dome Tweeter when playing tunes on them.

Im running them through a saphire 6 audio interface.. Even on the back of my monitors you can lower the Hi-freq by 2db by twisting the knob (which ive done).

The reason i describe it as a hi-freq noise is because if i cut the Hi on a virtual dj mixer the noise goes away.

The noise also goes away if i cover up the 1" Neodymium Soft Dome Tweeter with my hand lol.

Any ideas? or is this a phone call to whom I bought it from? Thanks!

No im using a desktop.. running on xp though... ive got 1BG ram Intel 4 3.20GHZ 500gb HD... the problem almoste eluded itself when i realised the quality of some of the tunes were below 320KBPS.. once i kept playing 320 tunes the problem almost fucked off bit not fully, the problem stayed fully with some tunes especially the the tune 'Magnetic Man - Mad'.. dont know why lol...

also while im here, any particular buffer length I should set it to?.. Anddddd ive been playing my music very low volume level for the first day to 'warm them in', this is the right thing to do right? lol If right how long for, if wrong ignor that lol

I had this exact problem with my monitors, after a bit of investigation it turns out I had pretty much everything in my signal chain set up wrong. Here's what I did to fix it...

Find out what level your soundcard puts its signal out at, some soundcards output is -10 db and some are like -4 db or something. Don't quote me on those numbers but the point is find out what yours outputs at. Now if you have some kind of volume control device (like the Mackie big knob) you need to set the proper trim for your output. Then you can set up the back of the monitors properly. If you are using something for a volume control and it has meters in db on it you can check that your set up right by playing a single note at a certain db level in your DAW and the db level on your volume control should match.

Had this exact problem when i got my Saffire and RP6s. Never managed to work out what it was but it stopped after a while

It's tough to say what buffer length you need, try adding some time to it and see if your problem
goes away.
