I'm so tired of people not reading the rest of the posts to realise there will be a digital release.

I'm so tired of people releasing their music too, and on vinyl! Who the fuck do they think they are!

I read all the posts, but I just think it makes no sense to release digital far after the vinyl. At least it's not a vinyl only release. Obviously the vinyl release is released before the digital so people will purchase the vinyl, but I feel that it doesn't make people who wouldn't otherwise purchase vinyl, purchase the vinyl at all, and if anything is completely counterproductive and makes people just download vinyl rips from a website or something. Then half the time when the digital actually comes out, people don't bother to pay for the 320 digitally mastered files. It's a shame really, but this is a huge release either way.

What do you think?

You have got it wrong man. Firstly I completely understand releasing Vinyl only, it may not be everyones fav idea, but it's completely down to the label owners, and if they wanna release their tunes on vinyl only, whos place is it to tell them otherwise?

It makes vinyl special, if you want to be able to listen/play a tune in full quality you have to buy the vinyl. In a way it filters out true fans, because lets face it, those who are gonna download rips will probably just download the 320's when they get leaked anyway, so why cater for people who don't care enough about the music to buy it on vinyl? I'm not saying there are no true fans who buy digital, because not everyone owns decks. But if just by releasing digital you are gonna lose money and have your tunes uploaded by the first person who buys it, what is really the point from an artists point of view?

And from a DJ perspective it's an even better idea! Exclusive only to those whos spin vinyl, no trendies using midi controllers can play it. Those that are proper DJ's will either buy the vinyl or suck it up and wait for the digi - if you are playing vinyl rips out, you don't deserve a 320.

Bottom line, as an artist (who decides how their music is released) I'd rather 30 people buy vinyl than a 100 buy digital. And you as a Fan, should respect however they decide to release it.

Fair enough, I understand what you're saying. But people like me actually do purchase the 320 / WAV digital files once they get released, but then again, most people probably don't so that means that's money lost for the label. But if the two mediums were released at the same time, I think more people would be inclined to just purchase the digital instead of waiting for vinyl rips to be posted somewhere.

Also, you mentioned that in order to hear a tune in it's full quality you must buy the vinyl. So far I've come to notice the general consensus that most people think its thing of preference. Personally, I honestly believe that digital WAV's sound superior to vinyl, as long as the they were both mastered differently for their respective mediums, but I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me, it's just how I personally hear it.

But I think it's probably extremely rare that a label loses money on releasing digital. If anything, they're losing money on vinyl.

But you're right, labels do have the right to release however they want.

I think you're extremely impatient and seem to have little respect for the choices of the people that make it possible for you to hear that music in the first place, although I'm sure you'll claim otherwise.

Not sure where this idea that things should be released as quickly as possible just because you've heard them comes from. Patience. Getting a release out isn't easy.
