You don't HAVE to do anything. Fuckin make the sub bass the loudest thing in the mix.

true lol, might as well make the sub the loudest and see what happens; I've a feeling its gonna fuck up the mixdown though, pretty sure it will

U can do whatever u want, u just can't do it all at the same time. The mix is still art... Go for it.

however good it sounds on your cans - getting in a club and playing a tune with sub bass with ridiculous levels, is probably going to just sound.. fucking lame.

i had a track where the sub went to like -8dB... which is like 1-2dB's higher than i normally make it, and on a JBL 2k watt sound system... it was hard to hear anything but the bass.

but then again, if that's what you're going for... go for it.

this, plenty buddies whore the subbass on their mixdowns then you can barely make out the tune on actual system lol

that is one of the ultimate questions in dubstep though isnt it, would you rather just feel immense bass with some percussion, or do you wanna hear some other elements in there as well?

The latter option sounds better on paper, but when you actually get on the DAW you get so tempted to go for the former

As long as you listen to Chad, you'll be OK.

With a really minimal tune turning the sub up is good imo, up until a point though. :)
