Technics 1210 problem

Post by Phalanx » Wed May 02, 2012 7:08 pm

Hey, basically one of my decks is making a "bzzz" noise through the speakers. However I can hear the records clearly from the turntable itself, my other deck works perfectly and the leads are in exactly the same place (both in phono and set to phono on the mixer). So the way I see it is, it could only be the phono leads coming from the turntable that are faulty or something? The leads on the deck that works look much newer than on the one that isn't working.

Am I correct or could it be something else?

Are they both grounded?

No they weren't but they are now. It's got rid of the "bzzz" noise but now it's just not playing, even when switching the cue over to that deck I can't hear it on my headphones either. So perhaps it's that the head shell isn't connected to the cartridge properly?

I did it that way as this cartridge wasn't colour coded like others seem to be.

Hm that's odd. Yeah I'd check the cartridge, maybe it's not connecting to the tone arm right.

I'm a fucking idiot. I must have had the cartridge upside down when I did it earlier. Only just checked it. :D

Cheers.
