bassline arrangement

Post by dwayne » Mon May 07, 2012 11:29 am

hey guys! im quite stuck on this... take for instance 'Knife Party' they got all these bass sounds that make up a melody. Now im stumped on how to get them to play a melody. would you play a simple melody and play some notes with a different synth? any advice will be gladly appreciated. not interested in how to make any sounds.

but it needs to sound like a melody in all. not just some random notes with different sounds...lol
like would u take a synth play a 8-16 bar melody, and program synths to play on some notes?

What I usually do, is that I make up a melody using a Viola, Piano or whatever, something classical. When that is done I start fucking shit up with my synths, basslines, whatever. :D

I like the question / answer bassline ideas.

look it up on youtube or google for question / answer bassline phrasing. once you understand the concept of asking questions and making answers with your synths.....arrangement will come naturally.
