How many tunes do you finish?
Today I've been wondering about how many tunes other producers finish within a week. I myself approximately finishes one or two tunes a week. But I'm a big fan of slacking, so does why.
Soooo, how many tunes do YOU finish within a week?

Usually one a week, sometimes breaks, sometimes 2 a week. I think if I finish what I'm working on now I'll have 2 done in a week. Both DNB.

I write nearly everyday - delete about 50%, consider about 30% for inclusion in live sets, about 19% ever goes to tunes, that last 1% is stuff thats made it from the drawing board to an M.E.'s inbox/in a press kit/djs/ect.
If youve never noticed, the producers you look up to probably have <20 releases total in thier entire careers.
If you think your tunes are good, work on them longer, because your own impatience is probably holding you back ALOT.
I used to be a tune an hour type. Bad news.

Like, one out of every hundred, and only half of those will ever be heard by anyone but myself.

Good advice basic a
I don't think I've ever completed a track hahah. I always work on putting a tune together for days and end up scrapping everything bc I feel as though I can do better by starting something new.
It's exhausting to the mind to listen to something so many times, how do you guys cope with getting through a tune without losing interest? I strive to eventually finish a track and still be completely into it.

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

A really good solid 16 measures. Usually a month to finish a whole song.

At the moment, 1-3 a week depending on what else I'm up to. This week I've had mastering stuff to do, and been dicking around with sound design so have only managed the 1.
Re: How many tunes do you finish?
I've been not finishing anything lately, nothing is really sitting right with me

I think the key is to not just sit there and listen through that awesome loop you just made a hundred times.dougriley wrote:Good advice basic a

Re: How many tunes do you finish?
maybe 1 or 2 a month 3 if i'm lucky (that i'm happy with)
then i usually wait a month or half a month to go back and finalize them so i have fresh ears
i'm in no rush since my first step of quality control is myself

I get this sometimes- tbh it just means you're getting better, keep working through it and you'll have a phase where you smash out a track a day for a while, makes it all seem worth it.
