Program relations

Hi guys,

I have really only just started out making dubstep.
I have a few questions.
Currently using reason but intrested in making my drums in another program, can I make the drums in say ableton, then transfer them over to reason or sort of use it as a extension program?
like Ni massive is to Fl studio.

I am also intrested in making music with komplete 8 just wondering if I can make some sweet basses etc in say ni massive then transporting them to reason or can it only be used in fl studio?


As I say im just starting out but so far Ive only just been usuing reason.

I suppose you could re-wire two programs together, although I don't believe you can use re-wire with Reason. (I heard you couldn't.. But I don't use Reason so I'm not sure.)

Otherwise, this would be sorta unpractical.

And Komplete 8 (and any VST really) can be used with more than just FL Studio (such as Ableton, Logic, Cubase, etc.)- but you cannot use them with Reason, as Reason doesn't support VSTs.

If you want to integrate many different programs, you should use a plugin-host like Ableton or FL Studio as your main DAW, and use an instance of Reason rewired inside it. It works very well.

You've already learned that Reason is an extremely limited environment. If you cannot get along inside of Reason, maybe you should try an environment that meets your needs (like, any other daw) .

You want to make your drums in ableton, and your bases with komplete... I'm just saying.

haha yeah I guess so I just feel like I have made alot of progress with Reason over a short period of time after lots playing around.
Is there a DAW that supports komplete 8 and ableton? does fl?
Basically I want a set up that does not have tinny drums and I want something like komplete 8 for the variety of programs for basses etc

Haha yes a joke is in there somewhere, Im thinkin of running ableton as my DAW along side Massive, FM8 and maybe a few more just thinking is it worth getting komplete 8 or getting just massive now?
maybe I could invest some money into keyboard or something?

All the free VSTs you'll ever need. ~ Watch the quality control, some of the plugins are great, others are really crap.

Some recommendations.

ShortCircuit used to be big dollar equipment now it's easily the best free vst sampler.

Hourglass is an amazing free granular synthesis engine that's just been released, it's not a VSTi though but deffinately one to grab.

Audacity has just been updated to 2.0. Easily the best free audio editing suit. (use it in conjunction with Reaper)
