“A lot of folks are trying to turn a light on South London Ordnance, but the young producer insists on clinging to the shadows.”
SOUTH LONDON ORDNANCE has been attracting some pretty heavyweight names in recent weeks and months. His tunes have been appearing in mixes by Mosca, Dark Sky and Pinch. And XFM’s Mary Anne Hobbs, dance music’s oracle, has been singing SLO’s praise for a while now. His first 12”, ‘Sanctuary’/'Roofy’, dropped only days ago, showcasing his uniquely ‘dank’ and textured approach to 4/4. He has already been nabbed by some of the biggest labels in the game so expect a rise of mythical proportions in the coming months.

• BENEATH •
Ramp / No Symbols
“Can we clone him and have a scene please?”
“Insanely good… Beneath is an incredible producer”
BENEATH, aka Ben Walker, doesn’t like smooth house. Frustrated by a music scene increasingly dominated by homogenised, sexy music, he decided to craft a sound that drew on the tempos and structures of the most contemporary of current productions but stripped down to the dark, rudeboy attitudes that have for so long given British electronic music its character. The results? Thick, sparse, deep rhythms that return to a viscerality not felt since the early days of grime and DMZ-style dubstep. Who’s interested? FACT mag, Blackdown (unofficial curator of the bass scene) and everyone else who’s heard his stuff. Is this the new direction of underground dance music? It may well be…
