Hey guys,
I know this a generally broad topic but as a new producer I am interested in what you guys do you in order to get your track sounding good on anything from laptop speakers to club systems to ipod headphones. Ideally my goal is to have my tracks played out on large club systems during shows but this is not something that will occur in the immediate future and I am assuming my tracks will be played on all types of systems before they reach a large club venue. Obviously checking your track and making adjustment as you go on multiple systems is a good idea but I was interested in any "secrets"/techniques/advice (Wrong wording here as I know there are no "secrets") you have in regards to this.
Appreciate the time.

get a solid mix down and put anything below 150 hz in mono, but the biggest thing is getting your mix down tight

Yeah, well, he is asking how to mix down.
If your song is full and balanced, in terms of frequencies and dynamics, it stands a better chance of coming across on most systems. Some systems emphasize different frequencies, and so different things will come out in the mix, and other things will drop back. But if you're full, you'll always have something there to bring out. If you've got large gaps in the spectrum and the particular system drops back the only thing you have, it'll sound weak. Horrible explanation, yeah! But you've got it, play it on a lot of systems, and A/B/C against mixed and mastered tracks inside your daw, see how they sound on your system, check out there spectrum.
But I've got no secrets, I don't know shit about this. At best I can get a mix sounding okay on my monitors

practice, and testing your stuff on as many systems as possible.
play it on your monitors, your headphones, your laptop speakers, your car speakers, a regular home stereo, if you know someone with a small pa play it on that. take notes of what stands out and what needs to be fixed. compare them and compromise to get the closest thing you're going for but without sacrificing too much on one of the systems.
