Mouse lag/slowness in Ableton

Post by OzoneJunkie » Tue May 22, 2012 5:55 pm

I've been having a problem lately (well, ever since I started using Ableton) where my mouse starts to get very laggy - maybe it's the whole program itself getting laggy. This can happen even after a fresh open of the program, adding a couple of VST/midi tracks and then the slowness starts. I have to close Ableton and reopen it, only to have this happen again.

I suppose I should contact Ableton, but figured I'd ask here too...

I should mention that my computer (notebook) runs other things like FL Studio without a problem. 1.7 ghz, 4GB ram, Windows 7 x64. Definitely seems isolated to Ableton.

Legal. I'm legal with all things in my life, software, music - everything. Not judging, just saying. Anyway, yeah, legal :)

I suppose you're asking, so to suggest I contact Ableton support? If so - I think you're right ;)

Yeah, Ableton support, plus at least you know it's not a shit crack causing your instabilities. Best of luck!

this happens to me when I'm rendering stuff out in after effects and my specs are pretty close to yours. Are you running anything CPU intensive in the background?

Its probably down to CPU/RAM overloading.

Have your task manager up constantly and check for any overloads what are not Live; also see how much CPU and RAM Live is actually taking up.

1.7ghz - is this single core? Thats awfully slow; I can barely run Ableton 8.X(whatever the latest is) well with a 3.2 dual core! Its a very bloaty piece of software.

It may be in your interest to check ..

Thanks... will check tonight or tomorrow if it's a CPU/RAM thing.

Have to check the CPU - might be wrong... for some reason I think it's a 2.4 GHz... multicore. Dunno... High-end gaming laptop from Dell bought in 2007.

Anyway, thanks... will see if this is a performance thing.
