Re: Territory (Original Dubstep)
The wubs had an annoying farty sound that I couldn't get into.
Not my thing.
The other thing is that the track didn't have enough aggression in it - which seems to be one of the focus of that type of dubstep. It was too repetitive - and not enough in your face.
The drums were insanely repetitive and a bit too quite in the mix - they need to drive the mix forwards.
At least that's my opinion.
Also - and this could be just me - but I really think it needs some kind of melody or at least a memorable chord progression - otherwise it seems pointless - the music doesn't go anywhere - and it doesn't mean anything. There didn't seem to be a beginning or an end - it was just noise.
Please don't take this the wrong way - and I'm sorry if it seems overly harsh.
I'd appreciate if you could just listen to my track and leave a comment in return
cheers

Thanks! this is exactly what I needed actually. Ill checkout your song. Im aware that the wobble bass sounds kind of terrible. I am using massive, and right now im just trying to get a better sound out of it. Im trying to go for something similar to excision as far as the lower range goes. Its just a matter of finding the right tone as far as that goes.
But for the lack of aggression, and melody, I think some of it is because my drums were synced terribly. It loses all of its groove because of that. I also just need to spend more time working on my songs in general. I spend way too much time messing with different sounds atm then I do just working on the song writing aspect of it all.
Also, whenever I add bass to my tracks they seem way to "gainy". It gets distorted really easily.
