Mindforce - Acrimony (Robostep/aggressive)

Post by Mindforce » Thu May 31, 2012 5:24 am

I know most of you hate brostep and probably robostep too, but I thought I'd try to get feedback anyway. Cheers

Soundcloud

Any ideas how I should end it? I don't really wanna put another drop in because I don't really know how I'd pull it off without making it sound cheap and like I was just desperate to add to the song. Any listens and thoughts are appreciated. I'll also return the favour to anyone who gives me feedback :)

The kick sounds very weak and could do with beefing up a bit...I'd also recommend adding some reverb to the snare so it doesn't die away so quickly.

The wobble that comes in at 1m25s is a lot louder than the other elements of the tune and drowns out pretty much everthing else...maybe consider turning it down?

Oh really? It sounds pretty thick coming through my stereo, so I guess that's just the stereo EQ'ing. And I'll try out some reverb on the snare and see how I like it, but I kinda like the choppy-ness of how it is now.

And I hadn't really noticed that about the wobble, though the more I listen the more I think I can here what you're saying haha.

Thanks for listening and giving some advice man! :D

I agree with wub, kick should be pretty dominant for bro tunes IMO.

Beef up the percussion and mixdown the other lead elements

You picked good sounds tho, it could def work

Ok sweet. Yeah I'm really bad at the mixdown, I've only been doing this shit for like just over half a year so I still don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to mixing it haha :P

Anyway thanks for the feedback, and it's good to know there are some people on here who don't hate brostep with a passion :D

Bring out that deep WUB at the drop at 1:25. Make it more pronounced, and you can use that as a second drop, followed by the rest of the bass. It adds your second drop, while changing it up enough to be not cheesy. Maybe even chop the "Drop It" vocal. Like I said, its another drop, but it's different enough to not be lame.

Yeah thanks I was thinking of fixing that up. I originally had it with huge distortion which somehow brought out the bassy end, but when I removed that (cos it sounded too mushy for my liking) I forgot to eq in more around the 80-250hz area.

And that's a good idea about the second drop, I was thinking of something like that myself but I really don't know how I could pull it off coming out of the slower and deeper "interlude" which is how it ends right now. I think it might just feel wrong :| well I'll try it out and play around with it until I get something sounding legit.

Again thanks for the feedback and ideas! :)
