Mix Volume Chart

Post by Cyren » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:40 pm

Hi,

I found a chart some time ago on the internet that showed on which volume level every element of the mix (hihtat, leads, bass etc.) should be. Somebody still got it, or maybe something simmilar?

Do you mean frequency instead of volume?

Afraid I can't help you then. If you do find one, I'd be interested to see what volume my hi hats should be.

What's wrong with it? I'm not doing deep dubstep, so i think it kinda suits my music style. Got a better one?

Maybe like some data processing company from the late 90's, founded by a couple of San Jose State graduates with ties to Shenzhen who are trying to secure investment from Sequoia Capital, and failing miserably.

Just joking man, it is all good!

lmfao :cornlol: that had to be the funniest thread I've seen on here so far.

On topic though, pretty sure you mean frequency? There's not a certain level to put your seperate tracks into (imo.) Try turning all your instruments down, bringing them slowly back up one by one until they all fit into the mix correctly.

That would be very hard to create a chart for that because there are so many variables like where you want your song to be peaking, how much stuff you have in the mix, how well you mix, how many things are clashing, do you have sidechaining etc. etc. There may be a mixing Db guideline chart relative to what the kick drum is peaking at but I haven't seen anything of the sort.
