2001's Academy lecturer MJ Cole gained his reputation by initialising the UK garage hype in the middle of the 1990s with his anthem "Sincere". Releases on Talkin' Loud and his own Prolific Recordings followed, as well as a prestigious Mercury Music Prize nomination, DJing all over the world and remixing everyone from Goldie to Incognito. His new productions suggest more than a passing interest in the UK bass music sound, putting future garage on the map again.
For his UK tour he'll be joined by last year's Academy graduates Krystal Klear and Nightwave as well as MC Serocee:

MJ COLE
Following a classical training at The Royal College of Music, MJ Cole's career began with a job as tape op with drum'n'bass label SOUR. After slogging his way up to the position of engineer, he fell in love with the UK garage sound in the middle of 1996 while working on Ramsey and Fen's 2-step remixes for Kym Mazelle. After some initial teething trouble, Cole's first solo manoeuvre, 'Sincere' finally found root with AM:PM and became one of the first garage records to crack the UK's Top 40. Two years after the single's success he got signed to Talkin' Loud and released 'Sincere', the album. This earned him significant notoriety with a prestigious Mercury Music Prize nomination, and he started DJing all over the world, and remixing everyone from Goldie to Incognito to TLC. Whilst his hits from the Talkin Loud era are familiar to most of us, it's been a while since MJ Cole has dropped a full length and we're excited to hear that there is one in the pipeline. He's been working the dancefloors again recently and his new productions suggest more than a passing interest in the UK bass music sound. Looks like there's just another MJ who'll last forever... Live in the mix at The Nest in London.

KRYSTAL KLEAR
Combining a love affair with disco boogie, new jack swing, and 90s house into a concoction of danceable heartbreak, Krystal Klear waltzed onto the connoisseur club scene in late 2010 with releases on Cooly G’s Dub Organizer label, All City Records, and of course, Hoya:Hoya, the label/club night he co-runs with Red Bull Music Academy graduate Illum Sphere. The Manchester-by-way-of-Dublin producer has since continued to make waves throughout the globe based on his lush chord progressions, springboard basslines, and boogie rhythms. His high-energy DJ sets and neurotic dancing have also kept crowds enraptured on both sides of the Atlantic. Live in the mix at RBMA's Tormenta Tropical bash at Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

NIGHTWAVE
In addition to her experiences as an alternative medicine practitioner, body double for Penelope Cruz, motion capture actor in the ‘DJ Hero’ video game franchise, quantum mechanics philosopher, and Slovenian Judo champion, Nightwave somehow finds time to put out records – excellent records. Her releases on the Svetlana Industries and Seed labels, either as Nightwave or her retired moniker 8bitch, have garnered her international acclaim for a forward-thinking combination of Chicago juke, UK bass, grime, and 80s funk. And when she’s got a free moment, you’ll probably find Maya behind the DJ decks at your favourite watering hole somewhere in Europe, or guesting over the airwaves on Resonance FM. Is there any more to say? Short of holograms, we’re still not quite sure how she does it. Live in the mix at the Boiler Room x RBMA 2011 night.

TYPEWRITER
The man behind local stalwarts CRAYON & previously CHECK THE RABBIT, responsible for bringing artists like Loefah, Mount Kimbie, Pinch and Kidkanevil to the small town when most people were still trying to work out what dubstep is (or more, was). TYPEWRITER will be warming things up with his own distinctive mix of bass-fuelled sounds and as anyone who was lucky enough to catch his sets before and after FOREIGN BEGGARS will tell you, get there early.
