SCUBA
Scuba is the production and DJ alias of Paul Rose, the curator of one of the original dubstep labels, Hotflush Recordings, which released some of the most important tracks of the genre’s formative period and has grown into a leading player in the wider world of electronic music. A celebrated and influential DJ, he was voted #25 in Resident Advisor’s 2011 poll of the world’s Top 100 DJs.

Originally from London, Scuba relocated to Berlin in 2007, a move which (according to some) influenced his critically acclaimed debut album, A Mutual Antipathy (2008). The stylistic synergy of the album cemented his position as one of the most forward-thinking dubstep producers. The project was subsequently completed with a series of remixes by Surgeon, Substance, Jamie Vex’d, Martyn, Marcel Dettmann and the artist himself under his SCB guise.

For his set at Deep Space, he will play a truly unique "Deep Space set;" the stuff of legends.

For those of you who have come to Deep Space at club Cielo in NYC, you know that for a number of years our weekly Monday night party has been featuring some of dubstep's greatest legends and supporters from Mala, to Pierson Sound, from Loefah to Scuba to Mary Anne Hobbs. This summer, Deep Space continues to feature plenty of dubstep greats including Sepalcure, Dave Q., Goth-Trad, and FaltyDL and many others.

Halcyonline, one of NY's greatest music shops and online retailers of cool, cutting edge music, released an extensive interview of Deep Space's great visionary and resident dj, Francois K. In the interview Francois talks at length about the challenges Deep Space encountered introducing dubstep to mainstream NY audiences over the years. It's a fascinating story and tells of the ultimately triumphant transformation of many of Deep Space's reluctant, and now grateful listeners.
