Tutorial help "Pew"

Post by BeatsPerPony » Wed Jul 04, 2012 8:58 pm

The base sounds like a "Pew"...
I've heard many dubstep use this but I can't seem to find a tutorial or figure out how to acualy do it.

Example is on 1:40 of this dubstep remix my friend Omnipony did:

Can anybody help me or know a tutorial link?

Thanks

The basis for that sort of sounds is modulating the pitch of saw waves (I think), in this case either using a downwards saw tooth lfo or an envelope with no attack, a short decay, no sustain and perhaps a really short release and repeating notes I guess :P im not a huge expert on making pew pew lazer woosh noises but every time I have I have found pitch modulation important,
