Scales

Post by Primitiv » Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:15 pm

After reading about scales and the different scales in the PDF i posted here I've been wonderin,

Do any big names or anyone on here use one set scale for a tune?

I've also noticed on Beatport the scales are provided for songs, is this information from the actual artist or is it someones guess?

I think most people do, sure. Except for some really musically simplistic tunes that use 1-2 notes for the whole tune
I'm guessing the beatport key (scales) are provided by the artist, but there are easy enough ways to figure out the key of a song.

Pretty much every song will stay within the same scale, unless youre talking about prog metal or a genre where there's a lot of changes happening. Sometimes people will switch for a few seconds for a flourish though or to change it up in some way. And beatport analyzes its songs with mixed in key...an old version too from I remember so its not always right
