I hope I can get a name for this style
Hey guys, I've started realizing what kinds of dubstep songs I like the most. I'm hoping there is a name for the type that I like, or maybe some more suggestions of other artists that do these same things.
1. I've noticed that I don't tend to like dubstep drops that are just bass without a high pitched type of sound at the same time.
Here's an example of what I don't like:
Nexotic - Meow
Firestep - The Inferno
They just kind of stay in the bass zone without having sounds like this (I know it's probably better with subwoofers, but I'm not getting any):
Feed Me - Whiskers
DJ Fresh - Louder (Flux pavilion and Doctor P Remix)
I just enjoy the more high pitched sounds. Even in skrillex's scary monsters and nice sprites, my favorite part is the scream before the bass. The bass becomes more enjoyable, to me, after that scream.
So is there a term for the more high pitched mixed with bass drops? If not, could you refer me to some songs like this or artists that do it a lot?
2. Quick, repeating drops
Once again, Louder remixed by flux and doctor p. It has a great repeating sound from like 1:09 to 1:12.
Another example: Stephen Walking and Going Quantum - Full Grizzly. I like from 2:58 to 3:00 they introduce that repeating, quick thing. It enhances the rest of the song from then on.
One more just to get the point across, Cyrex - Earthquake remix
Is there a name for that, and if not, other songs that have that?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Oh god it's one of these forums... Is there a forum that actually has the type I likejackybb wrote:sorry mate youre probs asking in the wrong place, most of us like stuff like

I've tried the reddit subreddit and it's full of this too.
EDIT: I tried looking up a brostep forum and I can't find it because brostep is generally what "original dubstep" people like you guys call it, not the actual people who like brostep. Is there a term that brosteppers use?

The only reason I came here is because I've almost exhausted youtube related videos

And I like speeding up the process by asking for specific sounds rather than looking until I find them.

Re: I hope I can get a name for this style
Be respectful peoplez. At least I'm not saying "OMG NO ITZ NOT BROSTEPZ ITS ORIGINAL DUBSTEP FUCK OFF!" I understand that this forum is a different style, I understand brostep isn't original, I just like a certain style of music. Big fucking deal.jackybb wrote:i think your best bet would be related videos in youtube too be honest. when i was into the shitty kind it was how i found new tunes too.
Thanks, that's helpful. The most helpful reply so far.

^ keep in mind that the original dubstep sound was a garage beat and bass with tons of swing/skip/shuffle, which is NEITHER of the two halftime variations...

If someone's calling something what it's not, like skrillex being called original dubstep or the "father of dubstep", then you can get mad.
