"Chillstep" bass?

As my first post on the forum, I've got a question about making bass noises that aren't so "brostep" and more on the chill and melodic sounding side of things. As examples:





The top two coincidentally sound almost exactly the same, but this is the kind of sound I'm aiming for. Help?

I could care less what it's called lol, hence the "quotations" to emphasize referring to it as something that doesn't really have a name or classification. But I'm asking more specifically how I could emulate such a sound; "a sub bass" is quite general to me.

Perhaps I should be more clear ... I'm not referring to the low-end part of the sound, more-so the parts that aren't sub. If that makes any more sense ...

Edit: If it is just the sub and not so much high end stuff then guessing I have a fundamental misunderstanding of what I'm hearing haha.

For a sub bass, all you really need is a sine wave or, if you want more harmonics, a low-passed square or triangle (low-passed down to somewhere between 100 and 250 hz, depending on your taste). Then, you can add some saturation and compression if you like, but it's not always necessary. Just trust your ears on that one. It's a really simple sound, and a million and one ways to get there, so do it however you like and you'll be fine. Sub basses are usually layered with something, so if it's not the "low-end part" you want, you might just be hearing whatever is playing on top of it.

I love how these 3 songs sound almost the same, so cheap. But to get the rising sort of sound that you hear is really easy just give it a slow attack, simple saw waves will give you that sound just hi pass, maybe detune, chorus, small reverb and some pitch envelopes.

While we are on the topic of bass does anyone have any tips for this kind of sound...

I know it's a pretty standard jungly bass sound but I can never get it right, I've tried like detuned squares & saws low passed but it never seemed to have that same sound :/. Really bugs me so if someone could give me some tips...

Then you're aware that Rezonate's track was being written at most 4-5 months ago right? According to the artist himself of course. It's one thing to dislike the song, the artist or hell, even his skill, but to say that it's a complete rip-off of a song that was released around the same general time period is absurd. And why don't they deserve the recognition? How else are they to get it?

Not to mention, this was rather unhelpful towards the original intent of my posting.

Haha I have a few patches made, I guess I haven't gotten around to too much experimentation with my bass noises though and was perhaps over-thinking this particular sound a bit too much.
