So i just got my first midi keyboard today its an apk mini pro i know how to use it as far as assigning nobs etc now for the important stuff i have a few questions;
1) i currently use fl studio and i know you can record notes into the piano roll just by hitting record and playing a tune I'm not an expert on this but ill learn...anyways my question Is can i record while automating parameters if do how do i do it?
2) What type of cool things can i do with a midi besides notes and parameters ..oh and drum pads....
i don't perform live (not that good yet) did i waste my money on the midi or will it do me alot of good....if someone could help me out that would be awesome thanks ahead of time

Assign your knob and when you hit record it will record the automation into the 'edit events' area of whatever channel you have selected.

Super experimental.
Soundcloud
I have a thread
here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

Yeah, just hit record and select "everything" and it'll pick all your movements up

You didn't waste your money, automating everything with knobs physically is so much better than doing it with the mouse, more movement in your sounds

I find it best if you're a newbie to use samples/loops or MIDI scores found on the Internet. Unless you know how to play piano. Having a keyboard is great for melodies and leads. You really don't need one for dubstep in my opinion.

Fuck that, writing melodies without a keyboard is tedious. Actually playing it is rewarding and awesome.

Most dubstep I hear doesn't even have complex melodies. Maybe 4-5 notes at the highest.

Idc if you're playing Mary Had A Little Lamb, doing it with a keyboard is easier and more fun than clicking in notes on the piano roll.

I agree with Attila, i spent the last year fiddling with that damn piano roll trying to hit the right note trial and error sucks when your doing it for several hours instead of just hitting a few keys to find that right note.

But you can capture the little fluctuations in timing and velocity using keys
