I have a few questions.

Post by Nozeak » Thu Aug 09, 2012 1:48 am

Hello new friends! It took me a long time to find this website but man was it worth the wait! So much knowledge! After reading the production bible for the last 4 days i have a greater understanding for producing. The hardest part i find is where do you start when creating a song? Do most of you start with the beat or melody? Also what tips do you have to offer when it come to creating the melody? I never really played any instruments when i was younger accept the drums. And that doesn't help with synth at all lol. I read the music theory section of this forum and now understand about scales cords etc... but i am having a hard time puting it together lol. I cant really find a melody that sounds decent. Do you have any recommendations on how to actually assemble melodies? Sorry if there is a thread on this topic. If there is i over looked it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

So if you know chords and scales what's your problem, if you have a basics knowledge you can get by with that

I'd suggest downloading MIDI files from the Internet and messing with those or learn some basics of keyboards.

It makes no difference on where you start, whatever makes it easier on your progression.

Is that because of notation or sound design

Might help, bit of a shitty method - but it keeps your melodies in key :)
