Few questions regarding sound production

Post by Hellrayza76 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 3:00 pm

Long story short I have been making(or trying) to make music for about 4 months now. I started out just messing around with FL studio but I like it so much I would like to make something out of it. Just this past month or so I have gotten serious about it and it's most of what I do now.

I am not sure if I am being too hard on myself because the music I make now usually ends up sounding bad! Would 2-4 months of music production be enough time to get good results or do I need more time? I've also for the past week have been studying Dubstep song structure, music synthesis, and certain plugins nonstop on my free time which is usually when I get home from work and before I go to work. Should I take a break...?

Aside from that I have another question. Music synthesis seems rather complicated since I'm a beginner and I usually have no idea what I'm doing when I'm making a sound. Is it possible to know exactly what to do to get a certain sound? Where can I learn?

Thanks!

We all have to start some-ware! But realistically It will take 2+ years to get anything release quality down. It takes ages to hone your skills and develop your skills. Just enjoy the ride and learn when you can. Dont get bummed out about it, the most fun I had making music was in the earlier years
